Hastings Bowen Therapy

The first 3-4 days the body will likely go into a state of FLUX.  It is safe to practice the exercises in the video links below after 4 days.  Daily lubricating strengthening movements support you to maintain a healthy body.

What is a Bowen Therapy "Flux" Response?

After a Bowen Therapy session, some people experience what practitioners often call a"flux" period. This is simply a phase where the body is processing and adapting to the changes initiated during the treatment.

During this time, you may notice changes in your symptoms, energy levels, emotions, or movement patterns. Some areas may feel better immediately, while others may temporarily feel different before settling. This can include mild soreness, fatigue, increased energy, emotional release, or a shifting of symptoms from one area to another.

A flux response is often viewed as the body's way of re-organising and rebalancing itself. Because Bowen Therapy works gently with the nervous system and connective tissue, these changes can continue for several days after your appointment.

What should I do during this time?

  • Stay well hydrated.

  • Keep moving with gentle activity such as walking.

  • Pay attention to any changes in your body.

  • Avoid introducing other forms of bodywork for 7 days.

Remember, everyone's experience is different. Some people notice significant changes, while others experience very little. Both responses are completely normal.
